Admission Requirements
Technical skills:
Applicants must have a solid level of practice in the circus arts discipline for which they are applying. The training rhythm of a recreational practice is not comparable to that of a higher education institution, which is why attending a preparatory circus school is strongly recommended. All circus disciplines are taught at ESAC, except the flying trapeze.
Group practice:
It is possible to apply as a group (two or more people). If you wish to apply for a discipline practiced by two or more performers but do not yet have a partner, you may apply individually and find a partner on site during the admission tests. Because it is very difficult to re-form groups during the program, please note that groups admitted to ESAC will remain together at least until graduation.
Experience:
Although applicants’ backgrounds may vary, they must demonstrate excellent physical preparation, a strong acrobatic level, and openness to the arts. Stage experience and musical practice are significant advantages.
Language skills:
Proficiency in French is not required to take the entrance examination. However, please note that ESAC is a French-speaking school subsidized by the French Community of Belgium. The language of instruction is therefore French. Practical as well as theoretical examinations (oral and written) are conducted in French. Applicants wishing to join the program must therefore take the necessary steps to learn and acquire a sufficient command of French as quickly as possible, starting in the summer of 2025 (online courses, intensive courses, etc.).
Age:
Given the specificity of the program, it is preferable to apply before reaching the age of 23.
