Admission Requirements

Technical skills:
Applicants must have a solid practice in the circus arts discipline for which they are applying. The training rhythm in a higher education institution is very different from that of a recreational setting; therefore, attendance at a preparatory circus school is highly recommended.
All circus disciplines are taught at ESAC, except the flying trapeze.

Group practice:
It is possible to apply as a group (two or more people).
If you wish to audition in a discipline that requires a partner but do not currently have one, you may apply individually and find a partner on-site during the admission tests.
Because it is very difficult to reorganize groups during the program, please note that admitted groups are expected to remain together at least until graduation.

Experience:
Although applicants’ backgrounds may vary, they must demonstrate excellent physical preparation, a solid acrobatic level, and an openness to the arts. Stage experience and musical practice are significant assets.

Language proficiency:
Fluency in French is not required to take the entrance exam.
However, please note that ESAC is a French-speaking institution subsidized by the French Community of Belgium.
The language of instruction is therefore French.
Both practical and theoretical (oral and written) exams are conducted in French.
Applicants wishing to join our program must therefore take the necessary steps to learn and master the French language as soon as possible—ideally starting in summer 2025 (through online or intensive courses, etc.).

Age:
Given the specific nature of the curriculum, it is recommended to apply before reaching the age of 23.
